National Workshop of the All India Coordinated Research Project on Agroforestry: 21-23 May 2011, Thrissur
The Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) is hosting the National workshop on AICRP Agroforestry at Vellanikkara, Thrissur from 21-23 May 2011.
The venue: Thrissur, the ‘cultural capital’ of Kerala, is home of the world famous Thrissur pooram (=festivals). KAU is situated about 10 km east of Thrissur town on the Thrissur-Palakkad stretch of NH 47 and has a sprawling campus of over 1000 acres. Thrissur is well connected by rail and air. The Cochin International Airport is 50 km drive from the main campus. Climate during May at Thrissur will be warm and humid and the delegates are advised to bring cotton clothes.
The College
of Forestry, KAU, will be the venue of the workshop, which is situated on
the western side of the KAU main campus on the Chirakkakode road. The
college was established in 1986 for imparting professional forestry
education and for conducting tropical forestry research. The college has
many achievements to its credit and a bird’s eye of the same can be obtained
by browsing the contents of college website (http://www.forestry.kau.edu/)
Accommodation: The delegates are being accommodated at the KAU and KFRI guesthouses, the latter is located at Peechi, 6 km away from the KAU Main campus.
Post workshop tour: We are also planning to organize a one-day trip to the backwaters of Alleppy (Punnamada Lake) on payment basis (about Rs. 750/- per person). Interested individuals may inform the organizers (latest by first week of May).
